Success Stories and Testimonials

"The treatment from Beachside Physical Therapy has been the key to my recovery.  My first group of therapy sessions started in February for my back and shoulders.  The excellent care provided by the staff, particularly from Josh, helped reduce my pain and increase my movement.  Then in April I had arthoscopic knee surgery and naturally I turned to Beachside Physical Therapy for my therapy sessions.  Again, the office personnel and the therapy staff were welcoming and helpful.  It was very easy for me to attend therapy sessions three times a week as I witnessed constant improvement.  Thank you Beachside staff and office personnel for such a rewarding and pleasant expereince! -S.Y."

"I originally chose Beachside Physical Therapy for the location.  I could see no sense in driving past a therapist and traveling another 15 minutes to the one associated with my orthopedic surgeon's office.  It was matter of time, really.  However, once I went through the intake process and started my therapy, I was truly impressed.  I was being treated for rotator cuff surgery.  The 11th day after surgery I walked in there to start treatment, wondering what I could possibly do in there as badly as I felt.  But I was surprised.  The next two months were wonderful, though often filled with pain.  But immediately I understood that it was good pain - pain that would heal me.  Pam and David were my therapists and they were wonderful.  Pam - very supportive, concerned and challenging.  David - very convinced that I could always do better and would look at me when I did better as if to say "I knew you could do it!"  Pam was a great encourager.  I wanted to do better to please her if nothing else.  Each exercise made me stronger with the next exercise building on the last.  I have had physical therapy before, after knee surgery, in Massachusetts and felt it was a waste of time.  Hardly a moment of the time I spent at Beachside was wasted.  I appreciate all the effort expended to make my shoulder well again.  I will be returning there any time I need a physical therapist.  It is the only place for me! -D.G."

"I had been sent to physical therapy because of a sore shoulder.  When I arrived there I was greeted with smiles and warm welcomes.  As I was evaluated, I felt like Patrick knew his job well and did a thorough assessment of the problem.  The next few appointments were somewhat brutal at times but exercising muscles and moving inflamed joints can be that way.  As the appointments went on both Pamela and Patrick were caring yet professional in their sessions working on helping me to loosen the shoulder and yet at the same time build the muscle up.   At the end of my treatment, I received exercises to do and appropriate information for follow-up, explaining that at anytime questions/concerns were definitely accepted.  Beachside Therapy has been a great experience for what I had to go through. With the help of the Lord and his angels Patrick and Pamela my shoulder has healed and within a few weeks I hope to be strong enough to continue my active lifestyle.  Blessing to all of you for your hard work and patience!   THANK YOU!  -D.F."

"My success story is one that begins at Beachside on Wickham Road four weeks prior to my left knee meniscectomy in June2007 and ends only five weeks after surgery with a joint stronger and more stable that it has been since I tore the ACL over 20 years ago.  Through the combined efforts of my surgeon, Jeremy, Brian, and my willingness to follow their instructions, I have returned to full pain free activity in a remarkably short time; even for this minor arthroscopic procedure.  Physical Therapy prior to surgery was a brilliant idea guaranteeing my knee and leg were as ready a possible for surgery and returning to therapy only three days later.  My surgeon, Jeremy, and Brian all offered me the following wisdom that may also have helped me recover so quickly: “Don’t do anything stupid and you’ll heal.”  Of course they said that in good fun but they were right.  Working hard at the therapy sessions and then doing the exercises they gave me for home, and only those exercises, made all the difference in my success.  Everyone who knows Jeremy also knows how talkative he is first thing in the mornings with fellow staff and his first patients on the day.  I must say much I enjoyed and now miss the diverse and interesting subjects he brought up each of the three days a week I worked with him and how stimulating those lively conversations were each day before I went to work.  I must add that beyond learning the myriad facts and stories he had to offer, my physical therapy was all very serious work.  He put me through well designed routines to strengthen my knee joint and leg muscles in a way that made perfect sense to me as a patient.  Without a doubt, I thoroughly benefited from Jeremy’s professional knowledge, his insights and his skillful techniques.  Though he has a real knack for conversation, it was his serious side that outweighed everything else in pushing me to be stronger than I have probably ever been.  Thus, Jeremy’s approach to getting my knee ready for surgery ensured I would have nothing but the best post surgery results and quickly return to doing the things I love to do.  I also want to mention how well Brian did in taking over for Jeremy toward the end.  Brian, though less talkative, is just as skilled and was an excellent coach during the last two weeks of my physical therapy.  Brian showed me how to regain confidence in my knee and trust the work I had done all the way up to the last.  Finally, what makes Beachside on Wickham special is the total staff.  The first person I talked to on the phone when I made my initial appointment made such a positive impression that I knew this was going to be a great experience.  Jennifer was the person who answered the phone and every single time I had a questions, or needed to change an appointment, she was so pleasant and so professional.  I don’t think there was anything I could have said that would have upset her handling of my scheduling.  Lindsay was equally as nice and efficient.  I feel it is also extremely important to mention how I observed all of the physical therapists on staff at Beachside working together for the benefit of any and all patients no matter who the primary therapist was.  Call it a feeling of family or one of belonging, but the entire staff smiled at you, or with you; they showed that they cared and did their best to make sure everyone in every session was comfortable with the therapy environment.  At Beachside I witnessed and experienced highly professional people in the front office and in the therapy sessions working hard to help patients of all ages, shapes and sizes achieve as much as their muscles and bones would allow.  I can’t imagine going anywhere else for this amazing treatment.  My heartfelt thanks to every staff member at Beachside for making my therapy and recovery such a positive and fruitful experience. -G.J."

"To begin my success story, I must first tell you what a mess I was when I first walked into the physical therapy facility.  After having had bother knees replaced, spending ten days in the hospital, five days in the rehab hospital, only to find out that someone goofed when trying to locate a physical therapy facility for continued care.  My daughter lives two blocks away from the newest branch of Beachside Physical Therapy located on Murrell Road in Viera.  She went there and got information for me to set up my own schedule.  My first appointment was for an evaluation with Chris.  Little did I know that everyone at this place was going to be such a pleasure to meet, greet, and work with.  Upon entering the building, my husband and I were greeted by Audrey, who by the way is the quintessential receptionist/greeter.  What a fantastic first impression!!!  Every patient is welcomed as though they are a member of a big family.  Which, by the way is the feeling extended by all who work with the patients.  Dawn Pelletier became my personal therapist.  We bonded immediately and began our long and strenuous workouts.  Thank heaven for her strong and bony fingers.  Without them, the scar tissue would have been a permanent part of my knees.  Thank you Dawn for being such a compassionate, yet demanding, well trained ultra professional, who was faced with the seemingly impossible task of getting me back on the road to recovery.  As we progressed with the therapy sessions, I had the opportunity to experience the excellent work of several of the other therapists, namely Heather and BJ as well as Lisa when she joined the staff.  OH!! But wait.  Along came summer and a new person was added to the staff.  Where oh where did this young lady come from, must have a heaven sent little angel.  Courtney appeared and what a blessing she was to the staff.  Not only did she do things required of her, she could even anticipate the needs of the therapists and patients, providing water, additional pillows, checking timers, and most importantly the ever wonderful ice packs in just the right size and at just the right time, not to mention the laundry!!  To complete my SUCCESS STORY, I will tell you that I am walking quite well these days, thanks to all of you.  Bill and I would like to give each of you our best wishes.  Audrey, we wish you every success in your continuing educational quest.  Heather, best of luck and much happiness in your upcoming marriage.  Lisa, that new baby will be the most precious thing you will ever have, hold on to him and love him deeply.  BJ, please watch that donut craving.  Don’t let those Boston Creams get the best of you.  Courtney, you are the perfect candidate for becoming a physical therapist.  Good luck pursuing your education.  Last, but far from least, Dawn.  What would I have done without you????  You will always hold a special place in my life because without you, I would have given up long ago.  And by the way, the cream is still working great on the scars.  THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -L.D."

"Dear Mr. Ryland,Very few occasions or achievements impress me enough to cause me to write a letter of praise.  I made my last laudatory remark about 10 years ago.  As you know, good employees are very difficult to acquire.  For the last 10 years I have visited many Rehabilitation Centers from N.J. to Fla while searching for a place in which to retire.  My wife and I settled on Melbourne.  I have completed my 8th week of rehabilitation at your Rockledge facility and I wish to say how pleased I am.  Most therapists in the country are well trained, educated, and perform in a most satisfactory manner.  Your therapists in Rockledge not only meet this level of competence but exceed it to a considerable degree.  Since moving to Melbourne I have visited 6 orthopedic doctors who were helpful but could not relieve my pain.  I went to two pain doctors who were somewhat helpful but failed to completely cure my malady and only temporarily.  One of your employees, Dawn, cured my chronic pain by not only applying sound, established, professional procedures but she demonstrated that extra ingredient known as empathy and a genuine deep interest in wanting to help and cure.  Even when she was otherwise occupied she would observe my performance for possible correction and utter, from afar, the proper way to exercise.  I would get lazy, on occasion, and also complaisant.  I would take short cuts and she would have none of this behavior.  This I liked and needed.   Dawn is an outstanding therapist who is worthy of my praise and I would assume that you must be pleased and grateful for her dutiful performance as well.  You don’t get employees like her very easily these days.  Another employee, Audrey, also deserves recognition for her outstanding assistance in accommodating my administrative needs.  She is a delightful person full of charm, panache and gracious assistance.  She can handle patients better than any receptionist I ever observed.  As you know patients can get a little testy and Audrey could enchant them and have them smiling and happy with her delightful charming self.  You are so fortunate to have her in your employ especially in a high profile position meeting patients.  You could not find a better “greeter” than Audrey.  As you know first impressions are the best indicator and Audrey does this best.  She can handle six duties at the same time (i.e. telephone, appointments, instructions to therapists, assistance to trainee assistants, patients’ needs, general information for prospective patients) and perform them in excellent fashion without missing a stroke.  She could beguile a cobra into submission.  She has the smoothness of a Swiss watch.  I am most pleased with your rehabilitation clinic in Rockledge and I wanted you to know.  I will have rotator cuff surgery soon and I plan to return to your clinic.  My apologies for not typing this letter but my computer is down and for making this letter so wordy but it was necessary to describe properly the assets of some of your employees.Sincerely pleased, J.L."

"What a difference a year makes thanks to the treatment I received and exercises I learned at Beachside Physical Therapy!  At this time last year I was barely able to walk because of back pain.  Today, I’m training to do my first Triathlon!" -L.S.

"As I complete my second evaluation period for damages incurred through abuse, disuse, and atrophy of the muscles and tissues of my frame I wanted to express my total satisfaction with your staff.  From day one my treatment was patient centered and can best be described as totally professional!  My therapists are David, Heather, & Paul, all at the Indian Harbour Beach facility.  Each of them have unique approaches and are motivated to the Nth degree toward my success.  At first I did not fully cooperate, then realized I had to be actively participating to achieve the desired results.  It's frustrating for me because my injuries are varied and resulted from improper training as well as a couple of car wrecks.  Your personnel are able to handle my pain and associated physiological abnormalities with impressive knowledge and empathy not seen often in my lifetime.  My hat's off to you and those men and women who treat patients as people not numbers.  Also aiding in the total treatment are the office staff - Laura, Shenna, Erin and others whom I have not met are accommodating, courteous and give of themselves when helping patients. My observations have been over a period of several weeks and I am NOT easy to please!  Please accept my thanks and pass on to your staff my appreciation for the great reduction in pain and an invigorating experience for me. Sincerely, G.P."

"Prior to my physical therapy I had constant, annoying pain in my lower back from a herniated disc and a bulging disc.  Some days it would be so bad that I couldn't bend over to put my shoes on.  Being physically active most of my adult life, this was depressing for me not to mention painful.  I had to stop running, which I loved to do.  I had already tried several chiropractic treatments, massage therapy, and some light stretching.  This was okay but the pain would still come back.  A doctor at the Mayo Clinic recommended physical therapy treatment.  You have to work at it but the end result is amazing.  I am now pain free.  I am walking straighter, I feel stronger and event he headaches I used to get several nights a week have dissipated.  I am beginning to run again too which I was once told I would never be able to do with a herniated disc.  Much of my success is because of Bryan Downs, my physical therapist.  He was great.  He knew exactly what to do and gave me a program of stretching and strengthening exercises to do.  I can't say enough about this place as the entire staff was so easy to deal with and so accommodating.  Thank you so much for all your expertise." -L.H.

"I came to Beachside PT about 4 weeks ago with my left arm nearly useless.  I had very little strength and range of motion, but a good deal of pain.  After only 8 sessions my strength and flexibility have improved greatly.  I feel that the exercise program laid out by Heather and Paul will get me back to full function.  Many thanks to Heather, Paul and the rest of the Beachside staff." –B.F.

"I started therapy two weeks after I had back surgery for a condition called foot-drop.  Prior to the surgery, I had severe numbness in my left leg and walking was difficult because my nerve-damaged foot would slap the ground due to atrophy of the foot and calf muscles.  Fortunately, my doctor referred me to Beachside Physical Therapy where I went 3 times a week for 4 weeks rehabilitating my left leg.  It was a team effort with Heather being my primary therapist.  I have come to believe that Heather is not her real name, but is an acronym standing for HEAling THERapist as that is what she and her team accomplished.  I have now “graduated” and my walk is back to normal and my 74-year old body is as strong as ever.  I have resumed golfing and am hitting the ball farther than before.  The physical conditioning has the added benefit of reducing the onset of aches and pains from physical exertion.  I was given home exercises and have been inspired to keep up the physical therapy at home.  In summary, I highly recommend Beachside to anyone who would benefit from their professionalism – and that would be everyone who wants to improve their physical ability." –C.M.

"It is with great pleasure that I thank the staff for their caring and professional manner during my twelve sessions at Beachside Therapy.  Pam & Bryan’s therapeutic skills were very helpful in regaining flexibility and strength following my major surgery.  A special thank you to Pam for her caring & sensitivity.  I would recommend Beachside Therapy for anyone needing such care."  –A.S.

"My doctor diagnosed the pain in my left hip as being caused by some problem in my back and he recommended Beachside Physical Therapy.  Your therapist, Heather, did an effective job of selecting a series of back exercises to address the problem.  At the end of the therapy sessions the pain in the hip had almost completely disappeared.  Ms. Lowe selected a meaningful set of exercises and she showed a high degree of interest in my case.  She is a very competent therapist.  You are very fortunate to have such highly professional personnel on your staff."  –E.K.

"Thank you so much, BJ, for working so diligently with me to realign my hip and to “smooth out” the tendons and “knots” that were in my hip causing me much pain.  I feel 80% better and will continue with your suggested maintenance plan at home the best I can.  Thanks again to you and your friendly staff for helping to make the therapy a pleasant experience.  Good luck to you all."  –G.L.

"I wanted to take a moment to make you aware of the successful relationship I recently had with your organization and staff...I am in the customer service business and I recognize the value and importance of meeting customer expectations, much like your business.  I would like you to know you not only met my expectations but have exceeded them!!  This is what separates you and makes you distinct.  Thank you so much for my success and making me feel well again." - R.S.

“What makes Beachside Physical Therapy stand out from other businesses in not only their professional manner but their bedside manner, as well…Also, the interaction between therapists/patients, therapists/therapists, and even patient/patient is upbeat.  This goes a long way in recovery.  It makes patients more likely to continue with their therapy (I think).  The clerical staff was also friendly and very efficient.  Fifteen minutes of paperwork the first day was all that was needed to ensure my insurance was no problem.  Thank you Beachside for making me well again.” –B.B.

“’I can’t believe this is the same ankle.  I’m astounded.’  This is what my doctor said about my ankle after just two weeks of therapy at Beachside Physical Therapy.  Working with Paul was a great experience.  He is personable and also very creative in structuring and developing exercises specific to my needs.  I am a college soccer player and the idea of taking time off for an injuring is not appealing.  At Beachside they are aggressive but not careless and really care.” –C.P

“Thank goodness for Beachside Physical Therapy.  It’s very uplifting just walking in the door as I know I’ll get better soon.  The therapists are all so professional and pleasant.  Heather, Paul, Dave and all are excellent therapists.  I would highly recommend Beachside to anyone in need…” –H.H.

"From the moment I walked into Beachside Physical Therapy I knew that I was in good hands.  Everyone was so welcoming, so supportive, and so caring.  I knew that recovery from total knee surgery would be difficult, but you all made it so much easier.  I never would have made the progress I made without your expertise.  I continue to exercise at home and to follow all your recommendations.  You are a wonderful team and I will always be grateful for all of your help!  Thank you so much!" -K.V.

"It had been about 2 years since I carelessly fell and broke my hip.  After that, two of my friends suggested I go see Steve Ryland at Beachside Physical Therapy.  My family physician gave authorization for me to work with them.  After 4 weeks of therapy three times a week my walking ability is greatly improved." -S.S.

"When I began therapy I had trouble walking to classes, squatting, and other regular activities.  It was tough at first, but with the help of the therapists here I am able to enjoy life again.  I can run again and get back to activities I enjoy!  Thank goodness for Beachside Physical Therapy!" -E.H.
